USA’s Lyles Wins Gold in the Men’s 100-Metre Olympic Event in a Spectacular Photo Finish

American sprinter Noah Lyles narrowly prevailed in a dramatic photo finish to win the men’s 100-meter race at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

At the Stade de France, the 27-year-old won gold by a just five thousandths of a second over Kishane Thompson of Jamaica. Both sprinters finished with times of 9.79 seconds.

Lyles finished in 9.784 seconds, Thompson finished in 9.789, and Fred Kerley of the USA claimed third place with a timing of 9.81 seconds.

Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs, the reigning Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020, came in fifth.

The Olympic 100-meter gold medal hopes of Team GB sprinters Louie Hinchliffe and Zharnel Hughes were dashed in the semi-finals earlier.
